Burrumbeep Ski Club – Membership and Succession Plan

April, 2023

As agreed under our Constitution, the Club has 100 Members.
There is also provision under Regulations for Debenture Holders who are the spouse or children of Full Members. A nominal fee (curruntly $250) is paid for these Debentures as an advance on accommodation. The Debenture Holders can then stay at the Lodge for reduced Members’ rates.
As children of Members reach 21 years of age, the Debentures no longer apply. In an effort to enable ex-Debenture Holders to pay Members’ rates of accommodation and retain their relationship with the Club, Regulations were amended to allow Associate Memberships to be purchased, aligned with the existing Full Membership. The difference between an Associate Membership and a Full Membership is the inability of the Associate to serve on the Club Committee and vote at the Annual General Meeting. A nominal fee is charged for that Associate Membership.
In 2008 a Succession Plan was developed to manage the smooth transition of Memberships to younger family members at reduced cost. The Plan was adopted under Regulations once again and used the current membership structure within the Family Group to establish Senior Associates. These are the Full Member and spouse of the family group. The Membership may be transferred to one of their children who holds an Associate Membership. When this occurs at no cost, the Senior Associate status is created automatically.
Other Child Debentures and Associate Memberships continue uninterrupted and all of the family group can enjoy reduced accommodation rates provided to Full Members.
Maintenance levies are paid by the Full Members and Associate Members individually and Full Members only are entitled to stand for election to the Committee and vote at the Annual General Meeting.
Other adult children within the family may still purchase a Full Membership if he or she desires and the Committee will support purchase of other Memberships by Club Family Members as a priority.
The Committee believes this procedure effectively enables succession of the Membership to the younger generation at minimal cost.
Many members have adopted this succession plan so far and become Senior Associates with one of the adult children of each family group now Full Members of the Burrumbeep Ski Club.
